Involvement

Involvement

Percentage of team members involved in PR reviews. A high involvement percentage (>80%) is indicative of a self-sufficient team where majority of the team knows the code base. For teams with new members or a designated reviewer, the involvement metric would be lower.

Involvement

Computation of the metric

  1. PRs within specified project/team are gathered.
  2. Participation of each reviewer in PRs determined based on reviewer involvement, these include actions like commenting, approving, suggesting changes, or being listed as a reviewer.
  3. Reviewer involvement percentage is calculated by dividing their participated PRs by total PRs within the defined set.

Dashboards where this metric is used

  1. Review Collaboration

Use cases of this metric

  1. Use the involvement metric to understand & expand the reviewer base - whether reviews are spread evenly across the engineering team or whether there are a select few who are inundated with reviews and others don't get the opportunity to do reviews
